We are seeking an experienced Dirt Foreman to join our team in Waco, TX. The ideal candidate will provide day-to-day leadership for earthwork operations while helping ensure projects are completed efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company and project requirements.
Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise crews performing excavation, grading, site preparation, road construction, utility installation, and other heavy civil construction activities.
Coordinate daily work assignments and communicate project expectations with crew members and project leadership.
Plan and schedule labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to support project timelines.
Conduct daily job site inspections and complete required project documentation, including equipment reports and other field records.
Monitor project progress and help identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
Work collaboratively with superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, and other departments to support successful project execution.
Mentor, train, and develop crew members while promoting teamwork and professional growth.
Maintain accurate records for employee time, equipment usage, and daily production.
Communicate project updates, operational concerns, and resource needs to project leadership.
Support company safety programs and encourage safe work practices throughout the job site.
Perform other duties as assigned to support project operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Previous experience as an Earthwork Foreman, Grading Foreman, Dirt Foreman, or in a similar leadership role within heavy civil construction.
Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, site development, underground utilities, and roadway construction.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and grade information.
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across field and office teams.
Experience completing daily field reports, production tracking, and project documentation.
OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
Valid driver's license required.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Three to five years of heavy civil construction experience, including experience leading field crews.
Experience managing earthwork, grading, or site development projects is preferred.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Climate-controlled office environment with varying temperatures
Occasional travel to jobsites with exposure to fluctuating weather conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
Majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
Some Saturday work required; Sundays are rarely needed
