We are seeking an experienced Field Mechanic to work in field service and in our shop in the Austin Metro area. This position will provide service to our fleet of construction equipment when assigned and performs routine manual work around the yard and shop. We are looking for someone motivated and detail-oriented to add to our growing team.
Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot and repair heavy construction equipment
• Order parts as needed
• Prioritize repairs based on jobs needs
• Follow the supervisor's directions
• Travel to jobs in the greater Austin Metro area
• Work independently or with fellow field mechanics
• Complete all industry paperwork in a timely manner
• Conduct daily Pre-trip inspection of mechanic's truck
• Upkeep of mechanic’s truck
• Account for daily parts invoices
• Work independently to tune engines, align brakes, replace hoses, fan belts, oil seals, and other minor repairs as asked
• Assist the Yard Manager with moving and cleaning fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and various miscellaneous mowers, pumps, hand tools, and other related equipment
• Create and complete work orders correctly and timely
• Contribute knowledge and ideas to increase productivity
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• CDL class B or higher (for hauling preferred)
• Current CDL medical examiners certificate (preferred)
• Clean driving record
• High school diploma or GED (preferred)
• Basic understanding of safe work practices
• Minimum 2 plus years of mechanic background (heavy equipment preferred)
• Strong/effective communication skills
• Able to work in all weather conditions
• Full set of tools for large equipment repair
• Basic knowledge of Cat SIS and ET (training available)
• Familiar with OEM standards
• Ability to lift fifty pounds or more as needed
• Must be able to stand on concrete for long periods of time
• Ability to climb or crawl on equipment often and be able to get under equipment to work on it

Office Roles:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Climate-controlled office environment with varying temperatures
Occasional travel to jobsites with exposure to fluctuating weather conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
Majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
Some Saturday work required; Sundays are rarely needed
