We are looking for a creative Safety Coordinator to add to our growing Safety team. The successful candidate will help with planning, implementing, and overseeing the field safety program by monitoring construction project(s) for compliance with federal, state, and Owner required safety rules and regulations, and Company safety policy.
Responsibilities:
Conduct regular walk-through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with laws and Company policies.
Identify, document, and recommend abatement of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions and follow-up to ensure timely hazard abatement.
Utilize internal safety management systems and tools to write reports to field supervisory and project management staff detailing hazards and abatement techniques.
Conduct new hire orientation and drug screening.
Monitor prime contractor and/or subcontractor’s safety programs and may recommend specific solutions to abate/reduce hazardous conditions and follow-up to ensure timely hazard abatement.
Attend pre-planning and progress meetings to coordinate project-specific safety protocol.
Conduct on-site safety-related toolbox talks as well as project safety committee meetings
Investigate work-site safety accidents and confer supervisor to determine root cause and discuss recommendations for changes in work processes to eliminate recurrence.
Monitor medical treatment of injured employees to ensure that the worker attends treatment and is returned to work at some capacity in a timely manner, and compile progress summary reports of injuries for supervisor.
Monitor site safety incentive program.
Utilize internal safety management systems and tools to perform trend analysis to identify problem areas within the project or subcontractor, and other safety trends.
Assist in training new or existing personnel in basic and some advanced safety related topics.
Assist supervisor during insurance audits.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of construction safety practices, OSHA regulations, and risk management principles, preferably within heavy civil construction.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to independently manage priorities, resolve issues, and support operational teams.
Ability to identify hazardous conditions, conduct thorough audits and inspections, and implement effective corrective actions.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with executives, project managers, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and field employees.
Strong computer proficiency required, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and digital safety management platforms. Candidate must be comfortable managing spreadsheets, tracking corrective actions, generating reports, handling documentation, and navigating multiple software systems daily.
Experience managing incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, and safety documentation.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, incident investigations, and construction safety management practices.
Previous experience leading safety initiatives, supporting field operations, and assisting in oversight of safety personnel preferred.
Experience with General Liability/Risk Management claims, incident management, and corrective action processes preferred.
Ability to conduct orientations, training sessions, audits, and site visits with minimal supervision.
Begin working towards CHST designation if not achieved already.
Proficient in Drug Testing Procedures.
Education and Experience:
Education: Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: 5+ years of construction safety experience required, preferably within heavy civil construction or related industries.

Office Roles:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Climate-controlled office environment with varying temperatures
Occasional travel to jobsites with exposure to fluctuating weather conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
Majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
Some Saturday work required; Sundays are rarely needed
