We are seeking a Pipe Layer Helper to join our team in Waco, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or grow a career in heavy civil construction. The Pipe Layer Helper works alongside experienced crew members to support the installation of underground utility systems, including sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water lines.
Responsibilities
Assist the Pipe Layer and crew with the installation of underground utility systems, including sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and related infrastructure.
Help prepare work areas and pipe routes using project plans and supervisor direction.
Load, unload, move, and organize pipe, fittings, and construction materials.
Assist with assembling, installing, and repairing underground piping and related components.
Help position and align pipe during installation.
Support grade and elevation checks using levels, lasers, and other measuring tools.
Assist with connecting pipe sections and preparing joints for installation.
Measure and prepare pipe and materials for placement.
Help prepare trenches, grade bedding materials, and assist with backfilling activities.
Perform general labor duties to support daily construction operations.
Work collaboratively with Pipe Layers, Foremen, Superintendents, and other crew members.
Follow company procedures and project requirements while maintaining an organized work area.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
Interest in learning underground utility installation and heavy civil construction practices.
Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment is helpful but not required.
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials, bending, kneeling, and working on uneven terrain.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills.
OSHA 10 certification is preferred but not required.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous construction, landscaping, utility, or general labor experience is a plus but not required.
This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training provided for qualified candidates.

Office Roles:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Climate-controlled office environment with varying temperatures
Occasional travel to jobsites with exposure to fluctuating weather conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
Majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
Some Saturday work required; Sundays are rarely needed
