We are seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team in Waco, TX. The ideal candidate will operate excavators and other heavy equipment to support utility, earthwork, and heavy civil construction projects while working closely with field crews to help keep projects on schedule.
Responsibilities
Operate excavators to perform excavation, trenching, grading, material handling, and other construction activities.
Operate additional heavy equipment as needed, including loaders, skid steers, dozers, motor graders, water trucks, and other construction equipment.
Work closely with crew members and equipment operators to support daily project goals.
Follow project plans, grade stakes, and supervisor direction while performing excavation work.
Complete daily equipment inspections and accurately document findings.
Keep assigned equipment clean and in good operating condition.
Perform routine equipment checks and communicate maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
Participate in daily crew meetings and project planning activities.
Operate equipment in accordance with company procedures, project requirements, and applicable regulations.
Assist with additional duties as assigned to support project operations when equipment is not in use.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience operating excavators and other heavy construction equipment.
Familiarity with electronic equipment controls and operating systems.
Working knowledge of excavation, underground utility installation, grading, and heavy civil construction practices.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, grade information, and work instructions.
Strong hand-eye coordination and the ability to safely maneuver equipment in active construction environments.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and environmental conditions.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Five or more years of experience operating excavators or similar heavy construction equipment.
Experience operating mainline excavators on heavy civil, utility, roadway, or site development projects is preferred.

Office Roles:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Climate-controlled office environment with varying temperatures
Occasional travel to jobsites with exposure to fluctuating weather conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
Majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
Some Saturday work required; Sundays are rarely needed
